ARC

ARC is a desk-light product design work created by Ko Yamasaki in 2026. Its form is organized around a continuous arcing profile, joining the base, upright support, and upper arm as one uninterrupted shape.
The work is documented through rendered views of its overall form, recessed light plane, bend, power connection, and a final animation.
Overview[edit]
ARC is a compact desk-light design work whose visual identity comes from one continuous profile. The object uses a restrained body and a recessed light plane rather than separate, visually dominant components.
The design establishes continuity across the whole object: the base rises into the support, turns through the upper bend, and extends into the lighting arm. Renderings in light and dark surroundings document both the silhouette of the unlit body and the appearance of the illuminated surface.
Design[edit]
Form[edit]
The side view shows the base, upright support, bend, and upper arm as a continuous silhouette. A rear three-quarter view also records how the cable meets the lower part of the body.
The lower and upper portions are connected by broad curved transitions rather than visible joints. From the side, the body reads as a single band that changes direction while retaining a consistent visual language across the base and arm.

Light[edit]
The light plane is recessed into the underside of the upper arm. Its warm output contrasts with the cooler surface of the body.
The inset placement keeps the luminous element within the outline of the arm. In the darker rendering, the emitted light forms a concentrated pool below the fixture while the outer profile remains legible against the background.

Power and cable[edit]
The power cable enters near the lower bend and remains visually secondary to the main profile.
Detail and rear views show the connection as a small interruption near the base of the upright section. Its position keeps the cable away from the upper lighting arm and preserves the continuous reading of the principal side silhouette.

Video[edit]
The completed animation records ARC from changing viewpoints and lighting conditions.
Together with the still images, the moving view clarifies the depth of the base, the curvature between the vertical and horizontal portions, and the relationship between the body and its recessed light plane.
Gallery[edit]
Additional rendered views document the rear form, the bend, and the illuminated object.
These views supplement the principal side elevation by showing how the continuous profile changes in depth and how the same form is read under different lighting conditions.
